Heritage Workshops for 2016 - 2017
October 22 – Bee Keeping Workshop, 8 a.m. – 12 p.m.: $20 per person
Learn basic bee keeping methods for backyard bees during this workshop. Bees are vital for good pollination of a farm’s produce. Honey bees have struggled over the past several years to survive. Keeping them alive and well not only benefits their species, but also benefits many different plant species that require pollination. Registration is required and space is limited to the first 15 registered participants. All participants must be 16 years or older.
November 5 – Health & Beauty DIY Workshop, 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.: $20 per person
Learn how to make health and beauty products yourself. Cosmetics are readily available for purchase today, but in the 19th Century most of these products were homemade using natural ingredients. Using a few key ingredients, you can learn how to make your own all natural health and beauty products. This adult heritage education workshop offers you the opportunity to make lip balm, deodorant and body scrubs. Registration is required and space is limited to the first 15 registered participants. All participants must be 16 years of age or older.
January 14-15 – Butchering & Curing Workshop, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.: $30 per person, per day, or $50 per person for both days
Experience the skills of 19th century hog butchering, curing, and the use of a smokehouse. Participants must be 16 years old, advance tickets only. All participants must register for both days if they plan to attend both days.
