Texas Independence Celebration One-Hour Train Excursions

Important Times:
Check-in at the Historic Cotton Belt Depot: 9:30 a.m. – 2:55 p.m.
Boarding begins: 10:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m. or 2:30 p.m.
Final boarding call/doors close: 10:55 a.m., 12:55 p.m. or 2:55 p.m.
Train departure: 11 a.m., 1 p.m. or 3 p.m.
Approximate return: 12 p.m., 2 p.m. or 3 p.m.


Admission:     
First Class: $20 per person
Touring Class: $19 per person
Economy Class: $18 per person


For COVID-19 contact tracing purposes, the names of all ticketed passengers must be provided in order to purchase tickets.

Your Texas Independence Celebration One-Hour Train experience includes:



  • Taste of Texas sampler, which includes:

    • One (1) 4-ounce serving of Texas-style chili;

      • Toppings: shredded cheese, diced red onions and tortilla chips;



    • One (1) piece of cornbread;

    • One (1) cookie from a historic recipe baked at Nash Farm;



  • Activity Postcard. Activities are located at buildings throughout the Cotton Belt Railroad Historic District;

  • Commemorative Texas ribbon


Comemerate Texas Independence Day in Historic Downtown Grapevine at the Cotton Belt Railroad Historic District, February 27, 2021. The Grapevine Historical Society and Grapevine Vintage Railroad invite you to experience special train excursions, the Hall of Texas History Exhibit, various historic activities, and an artisanal fair. A Texas Independence Celebration will kick things off, before guests board the train. Once onboard, the fanfare continues with activities and entertainment spotlighting the history of Texas Independence. Guests can purchase individual tickets for the activities inside the Historic Cotton Belt Depot, Section Foreman House, Grapevine Tin Shop at the Bragg House and Millican’s Blacksmith Shop. Round out your day by visiting the resident artists located in the Cotton Belt Railroad Historic District and taking a stroll down Grapevine’s bustling Historic Main Street. While admission to the District is free, participation in the train excursions requires a ticket.


Parking:



  • No parking located at event grounds;

  • 636 S. Main St. – Grapevine Convention & Visitors Bureau parking Lot – FREE (ADA Accessible);

  • 255 E. Dallas Rd. – Grapevine Main Parking Garage – Free for first 90 minutes; $1 per every additional hour (ADA Accessible);

  • Additional parking available throughout Historic Downtown Grapevine


Boarding will begin at the Historic Cotton Belt Depot at 10:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m. or 2:30 p.m. The train will leave PROMPTLY at 11 a.m., 1 p.m. or 3 p.m. – rain or shine. Please arrive at least 30 minutes prior to final boarding call (10:55 a.m., 12:55 p.m. or 2:55 p.m.) and check-in at the depot for seat assignments prior to boarding.


Seating is assigned upon check-in. All groups must check in at the same time to ensure that they are seated together in the same coach. Groups include other parties that you wish to sit by. Changes cannot be made in seating assignments after boarding passes are issued. The depot will open at 9:30 a.m.

Tickets are non-refundable.


The Texas Independence Celebration Train is a one-hour excursion and does not travel to the Historic Fort Worth Stockyards. Passengers will not de-board the train during the excursion.


Please check in at least 30 minutes prior to your reserved ticketed time. Your reserved ticketed time is the train departure time. Train doors will be closed and locked 5 minutes prior to departure. Trains are unable to be held and passengers will not be allowed to board after doors are locked. Missed trains will not be refunded.

In accordance with Texas Governor Greg Abbott’s Face Covering Requirement to slow the spread of COVID-19, all guests ages 10 and up will be required to wear a mask or face covering for the duration of the event except while actively eating or drinking. It is also recommended that guest younger than 10 years of age wear a face covering if they are able to.


Per recommendations from Governor Abbott, capacity onboard has been reduced and GVRR crew members are ensuring that seats and public areas are properly sanitized between each excursion.
