Event Description

Nash Farm Teachers’ Institute
June 13-15, 2018
3 day Institute $250

Nash Farm is delighted to host The Teachers' Institute, a fun, engaging experience-based learning opportunity for local educators. Through this specific session, educators can explore Grapevine’s agricultural history, including topics such as 19th century farm life and foodways, heritage livestock, cotton production and railroad transportation.

Participants will be taught how to use several 19th century items and tools. Many of these items are included in the classroom resource kit, where they can be shared with students for years to come. The classroom resource kit will include items to explore cotton production including fabric samples, cotton bowls, weaving kits and more. The kit will also include items found with Texans traveling to the frontier, Victorian games, books and more.

Tuition fee includes a classroom resource kit with hands-on items for both teacher and students, lunches, program supplies, and all admission fees for the institute. The focus of the institute is on 4th and 7th grade Texas History. Presentations and programs are directed by experienced education staff of Nash Farm Historic Site along with partners from the Grapevine Heritage Foundation, Settlement to City Museums and the City of Grapevine Heritage Programs & Preservation department.
