This program has a different theme that highlights the heritage skills that you could use to enrich your life today. There is an activity fee of $3 per person for three years of age and older.
2016
February 5 – First Friday “Foodways,” 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.: $3 per person
Experience the way farmers grew, harvested, cooked and preserved their food. Registration required. Participants of all ages may attend.
March 4 – First Friday “Homesteading,” 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.: $3 per person
Experience homesteading techniques that you can incorporate into your daily routine. Registration is required. Participants of all ages may attend.
April 1 – First Friday “April Fool's,” 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.: $3 per person
Join us for Tom Foolery at Nash Farm. Learn about the origins of April Fool's Day and the light hearted side of farm life. Registration is required. Participants of all ages are encouraged to attend.
May 6 – First Friday “Spinning & Weaving,” 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.: $3 per person
Join us to experience how fibers were turned into fabric on the farm. Registration is required. Participant of all ages are encouraged to attend.
June 3 – First Friday “Crops,” 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.: $3 per person
Crops were vital for making money and providing food for the family. See what is growing at Nash Farm and learn how it was grown. Registration is required. Participants of all ages are encouraged to attend.
July 1 – First Friday “Keeping Cool,” 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.: $3 per person
Come to Nash Farm to experience how residents on the Grape Vine Prairie kept cool in the warm summer months. Registration is required. Participants of all ages are encouraged to attend.
August 5 – First Friday “Cotton,” 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.: $3 per person
Cotton was one of the most important cash crops and truly helped to build this region. Learn about how cotton was grown, harvested and sold. Registration is required. Participants of all ages are encouraged to attend.
September 2 – First Friday “Craftsmanship,” 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.: $3 per person
Farmers relied on many crafts people to help keep their farms running. Visit this month to experience many peoples’ crafts and trades. Registration is required. Participants of all ages are encouraged to attend.
October 7 – First Friday “Campfire Cooking,” 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.: $3 per person
Experience the skill of campfire cooking and learn how you can incorporate it into your next camping trip or backyard activity. Registration is required. Participants of all ages are encouraged to attend.
November 4 – First Friday “Crochet, Knit and Sew,” 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.: $3 per person
Witness domestic arts being done that have created innumerable objects, many of which have become valued family heirlooms. Registration is required. Participants of all ages are encouraged to attend.
December 2 – First Friday “Christmas Fun,” 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.: $3 per person
Make a Victorian Christmas ornament to decorate your own tree, sing carols and experience the joys of an old fashioned Christmas. Registration is required. Participants of all ages are encouraged to attend.
