Your students in 3rd - 7th grade, have the opportunity to participate in a program that explores an exciting past. By following the stories of Laura Ingalls Wilder's Little House on the Prairie, they will experience the daily life activities that will bring this story to life. Sign up to take part in this fun and educating program. There is an activity fee of $3 per person for three years of age and older. 


September 26 – Farmhouse on the Grape Vine Prairie “Community,” 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.: $3 per person


                Explore seasonal fall chores and the return to school.  Participants may enjoy a teamwork activity related to fall chores, writing on 19th century slates and sewing quilt blocks.   Chapter references will include Little House in the Big Woods, “Going to Church,” “School” and “Nellie Olsen,” as well as, On the Banks of Plum Creek, “Learning”.  This monthly series is designed for 3rd-7th grade students, but all ages are welcome. 


October 24 – Farmhouse on the Grape Vine Prairie “Fall Harvest,” 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.: $3 per person


                Harvest the seasonal crops that provided fresh food this time of year.  Participants will experience working in the garden and a demonstration of indoor cooking on the wood burning stove.  Chapter references will include Farmer Boy, “Wonderful Machine”.   This monthly series is designed for 3rd-7th grade students, but all ages are welcome.


November 21 – Farmhouse on the Grape Vine Prairie “Winter Preparations,” 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.: $3 per person


                Help Nash Farm make winter preparations.  Participants will experience house and garden chores that are necessary as a farm prepares for winter, and make games out of the chores.  You may also work on sewing quilt blocks.  Chapter references include On the Banks of Plum Creek, “Keeping House,” “Prairie Winter” and “A Day of Games”.  This monthly series is designed for 3rd-7th grade students, but all ages are welcome.


December 19 – Farmhouse on the Grape Vine Prairie “Christmas Celebration,” 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.: $3 per person


                Experience how Laura Ingalls Wilder and her family would have celebrated Christmas.  You may participate in making Victorian ornaments that you can take home to your own family tree.  Chapter references will include Little House in the Big Woods, “Christmas” and On the Banks of Plum Creek, “The Christmas Horses” and “A Merry Christmas”.   This monthly series is designed for 3rd-7th grade students, but all ages are welcome.


February 27 – Farmhouse on the Grape Vine Prairie “The Shanty on the Claim,” 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.: $3 per person


            Join Nash Farm and have a hand in making light-as-a-cloud biscuits.  Dough was often made in large quantities and by adding fat, sugar and an egg, light bread dough would become what we know today as dinner rolls.  The reading will come from the chapter “The Shanty on the Claim,” from By the Shores of Silver Lake.  This quarterly series is designed for 3rd-7th grade students, but all ages are welcome.


April 23 – Farmhouse on the Grape Vine Prairie “Spring on the Claim,” 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.: $3 per person


            Join us this month to learn how draft animals would have been used to prepare the fields for cultivation.  Try your hand at cultivating the soil, planting a few seeds and watering the kitchen garden.  The reading will come from the chapter, “Spring on the Claim,” from Little Town on the Prairie.   This quarterly series is designed for 3rd-7th grade students, but all ages are welcome.


July 23 – Farmhouse on the Grape Vine Prairie “Mosquitoes,” 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.: $3 per person


            Follow in Laura Ingalls Wilder’s footsteps and learn what life was like in an era when people were outdoors more often.  Make your own homemade insect repellant using natural ingredients.  The reading will come from the chapter, “Mosquitoes,” from By the Shores of Silver Lake.  This quarterly series is designed for 3rd-7th grade students, but all ages are welcome.


December 10 – Farmhouse on the Grape Vine Prairie “Merry Christmas,” 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.: $3 per person


            Experience how Laura Ingalls Wilder and her family would have celebrated Christmas.  You may participate in making Victorian ornaments that you can take home to your own family tree.  The reading will come from the chapter, “Merry Christmas,” from The Long Winter.  This quarterly series is designed for 3rd-7th grade students, but all ages are welcome.
